The Author's Corner: Puzzle

There are things that puzzle us. The future, what has happened in the past and what we are doing in the present moment. Life in general is like a big puzzle because we all have a picture of how and where we want to be in our life. Once we pick up the pieces and start to make the boarders of our puzzle, our drams that we have become the picture on the inside.

Everyone’s puzzle is different, and we can only focus on what should be in our own life. It does not matter where we live, if we are from an upbringing of wealth or below the poverty line, the place where we start is no better or worse than anyone else. Those who start and how they start is up to the person, a person from poverty can become wealthy and someone who is wealthy may lose all their money. It comes down to the decisions and the drive of the individual.

I have worked with people who have come form nothing to being the head chef of a five-star hotel. There are many more success stories like this in all industries. A lot of those who have been born into money do not fair as well because of their attitude that it should be given to them, these individuals have to rely on who their parents know to get jobs because they can not make it on their own. It is a shame that happens, however that is life.

This is the fact that has always been in life. Those who have put themselves into success are also more aware and willing to go into business for themselves and help those in the community who need a chance or break. These people are very motivated and remember where they have come from. We all know how the rich view the world so I am not going to be getting into it because it would fill only one sentence, well I will say it, how can I make another dollar. They lack empathy towards the community and the employees that work for their company.

Those who take the time to build their life’s puzzle and help themselves always live the way they want. These people do not care what people think of them. They may not be wealthy in the way of money, their wealth is in compassion, thought, friendships and family. The things that are more important than money.

As a chef, I have worked functions for the rich and famous and I have volunteered in soup kitchens. No matter how much money I was making at the time, nor my position I was in the kitchen I never put myself as being better than the dishwasher because they are the lowest level in the kitchen, however the most important.

If you do not have respect for your fellow man/woman, it does not matter how much you make because without respect your puzzle will never fit together.
