The Author's Corner: Endless Skies

They say that the sky is the limits when you finish high school. Is it because you have your options of what to study or to enter the work force. In today’s society, things have changed compared to when I was finishing high school in 1997. The rate of change since then until now is that your smart phone has more power than a computer. Has this helped society is my question.

The reason is that the more changes that have happened in technology from social media to communication, the less people know how to interact with each other. The tech world is what we are in and as we found out from COVID that people are able to work from home and that is the new world we live in. As for the world I grew up in, it is being taught in history class.

I guess I am feeling the same way as my parent’s generation when the first home computer came out. History does repeat itself and that is what is coming in the future. For me as an author, I still hand write all of my work before I type it into the computer. Thus, most author’s today use the computer when they write, I remain on the old way of doing it.

When I finished high school, I never thought I would become an author because I followed my love for food into culinary school. I learned what I needed to know so I could become one of the best chefs. I traveled to where I am from and started to work there. Then the decision of more education crossed my mind as I wanted to open my own restaurant.

I stepped out of the kitchen for school and wanted to see if there was anything different that I could do. Then the skies showed me something different. It took a few years, but it is what I have now come to be my new career which is writing. I spent a few years back in the kitchen before I moved back home to help my parents in 2020. That is when my endless skies opened up for me. I took it as the opportunity, and it has become who I am today.

Now, there is what is happening in your life. If you are just finishing school, college or university your skies are open for you. The question is are you following societies never ending change or are you focusing on your life? Where life continues moving forward are you following your dream? The only one who can stop you from reaching your dream is you, your sky is the limit that you put on it.
