There comes a time in our life when we lose our innocence. It can happen at any time and there is no way to control it. Most of us lose it when we are in our teens, however it could happen sooner and there are the lucky few who lose it when they leave their parent’s home.

Loosing your innocence can happen in many ways. Sometimes it is because a death in the family or the passing of a friend because of an accident. This is when we learn that life will end for us. It takes something away from us when an event like this happens and the thing that is taken is our innocence.

Others experience abuse, and it does not matter what type. Abuse is something that scars our soul and we lose trust in people. For the people who lose it this way there is the feeling of being less than others or feelings of guilt because the abuser says that it is their fault that it happened.

As we grow from our lost innocence, the years go by, and something strange happens. The strange thing is that we become innocent after we accept the fact that life will continue. Sometimes it takes help from a trained professional, but you will reach that point and life will change.

In life there are always going to be situations where you will lose a piece of yourself, and it may be hard to move on. The fact that we have the ability to do that is a gift. It may hurt when we face it and it does, we know that we are still alive.

Stay safe.
