I do not think we are too old for lullabies. As children they were sung to us by our parents, and we have sung them to our children. In the songs that are sung, the stories that are being told have come from generations of the past what have been passed down. To know where the song comes from there is no real answer because they have been sung since the beginning of time.
What makes a lullaby? I am going to take a different look at it. Most of the stories that are told in the songs have a meaning in them. Something that most people do not take into account. Lullabies have been something that has helped the parents when they have had a bad day at work and know that they will be tucking in their child with a song.
You could say that all the music is a form of a lullaby. The reason I say this is because putting on your favorite band no matter what mood you are in always brings peace to you. For music it does not matter who it is because at that moment when that song starts it takes you away to somewhere else.
The song may be connected to a memory of days gone by with someone or a place. In what comes to be, there are a few songs that take me back when I was in the hospital and when I need a pickup, I know to play that song.
Most of my days, I have music playing in the background as the music shuts out the rest of the world for me. I am able to focus better with it and some songs help me with my writing.
A lullaby is a story that is sung, thus all songs are lullabies.
Stay safe.
