What is suffering? Most would be able to answer this question saying it is a simple question. Would enduring hardships be a better answer? However, we all suffer from something in our lives. Some it may be caused from their past, yet others it could be illness. To put it simply we could fill a book on the subject and only scratches the surface. Let alone this being a short essay on it.
Personally, suffering comes to happen through trauma most of the time. This trauma causes us to remember when and how the suffering started. For me it started at a young age when the bullying start in grade three and would last until I moved out of that town. My suffering is that I think I will wake up there and everything that has happened since I have moved out of that town has been a dream.
Your suffering maybe growing up in a toxic home life or the loss of a loved one. For some it could be the pain from an accident or a mental illness. Suffering comes in many ways, shapes and forms. For someone who has found their life as a full-time workers may feel retirement causes their suffering.
That last sentence I know does happen because when they start working in their careers, retirement means the end is near. It is not because they are afraid, it is the reason that they feel that their life’s meaning is gone. I feel that everyone is going to go through that when they are finishing their career.
The suffering from day-to-day life is mainly what has always bothered you. I do have good news and that is if you know what you are suffering from, then you can work on it. Thus, that last thought deals with emotional suffering because if you have chronic pain, it is a little harder to fix. In that case it is pain management.
For those of you who think that your case is worse than others, realize that everyone is suffering from something. We must treat everyone fairly and understand that we all have problems that we are dealing with.
Stay safe.
