The Author's Corner: Estranged

The meaning of estranged is simple texts is to walk away from someone or something. It can happen because of many reasons that people can think of. The cause can be as simple as disagreeing with someone and never wanting to be around them again. This also happens in families and if it comes to friends, the friendship will normally end.

Sometimes the person that walks away wants to teach the other person a lesson, however it backfires at times. The reason is because that person walking aways is the one that becomes estranged by family and friends. Is it worth it to be this way?

I know from firsthand experience and what most of these people who have walked away from me do not know is that I have always been a lone wolf. I have always walked the path less travelled or even followed what society has said. In a way when I was diagnosed with schizophrenia it was societies way of being estranged from me.

As those who have walked away from you, they were never there for you in the first place, thus, God/the Creator is showing you who really has your back. We all make mistake and as I have always said, “You better be perfect if you are going to tell me that I am wrong in my thinking.” Something that I live by still to this day. I choose the way of silence and cut out the people who have alienated me. This is something that I have made known to those people who come into my life. I have managed my life alone and I have continued on this way ever since I have been young.

I have witnessed long friendships come to an end because of a fight. There is something that most people do not see is what the other person means to them until they are alienated and to get that relationship back is a hard thing to do. The fact is that if you leave a relationship remember that it is over and so do not try to get it beck. By trying to get it back is playing with someone else’s emotions.

Have you ever lost someone who was a great friend to you? I have as I thought they would be in my life until the end just to find out that I was meaningless to them. It hurt at first then I reminded myself that people come and go in our lives. I have friends that I made when I lived in Edmonton that are still my friends today. Even though most of those friends are spread throughout the world we still say in contact.

When you have friends or family members who are not afraid to call you out and stay in your life, those are the ones you need to keep. Estranged, my meaning for it is the lone wolf who people will never understand.
