This book is about life in northern Canada during the time of 1900's. Patterson does an amazing job to keep the reader interested and the book is written from first person.
The book itself is well written and there are the use of older words through the pages that I had to look up to find out what they meant. Patterson does a great job in making the scenes of the book pop out in your mind which makes you feel that you are there with the characters.
I would say that if you are wanting to find out what it is like to be a trapper in the early days I would say to give it a read, as well if you want something different to read it will do the trick.
My next set of books is going to be The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. The first book of the series is The Gunslinger.
