The Author's Corner: Photograph

They say a picture can say a thousand words. As a photographer takes the pictures of the world in which they live in, maybe it is a sunset as it is us who sees the pictures that write the story of that photograph. For me as a written artist, my goal is to create a picture for you to see through my words. Some can do it well as some can create feelings that bubble up inside you when you see the scene that they have written. However, a picture shows you the scene which leaves out you imagination in a way though it leaves you with the right words and feelings to go with it. The only thing is that most people do not realize that each picture has its own story, as one is from the photographer and then all those who see it give their take of that story.

Over the years there have been photographers that have stood the test of time. All the way from the first photo ever taken with the first camera. Now today with our smartphones we can take better pictures than the common camera. That being said, the good photos are done with a true camera.

The story of the photographer for their beginnings is something that most people do not know, or even what frame of mind they were in when they took the picture. There is only the picture to say that they were there, which leaves the people who are seeing it to wonder.

We all have a photographer in the family unit who is rarely in any of the pictures. They take the pictures during important events in the family, and we see the times of travel. As they take the pictures, we are taken back in time to when they were at that moment. This is where the stories of the family come from. After all they produce memories for us to relive in our minds.

There is a photographer who does the shoots for their art and tell the stories through their work.  As we get wrapped up in the stories we see the true work of the picture. I worked with a few photographers in my twenties and helped them when I could by writing the story for them. Then they took the written word that I gave them and placed it with the photo. That was when I lived in Halifax.

In time what it comes down to is that one picture can change the world. The question is who will take it? Be your own photographer of your own life and write the story that fits.

Stay safe.
