The Author's Corner: Star

What comes to your mind when you think of a star? Is it a person that to your mind or is it the stars in the night sky?

For me, when I think of a star I look to the skies. The reason is because from watching the sunset and seeing the change of the guard so to say. I see the night sky as an artist’s painting that only changes over time as we move through space. Do not get me wrong about people who are stars because everyone needs someone to look up to.

With what comes in life it is where there are so many people wanting to be famous in one way or the other. With those people who are stars, they are placed front and center and if they do something wrong then their career is over. In a way it is hard to be a star as your whole life is on display. Every decision that is made, good or bad; it is there for everyone to see. What most fans do not realize is that those stars are normal people too. They have the life so to say and the media feeds off of them. One of the main reasons I have puled away from paying attention to the famous.

In what has been a short span of time TV and everything that goes into it, we have seen a shift in society. That shift is the programing that the media has been doing by the messaging in TV and all other types of entertainment. It is a fix that people get as some star promotes this product and everyone who follows that star goes out and buys it. There is also those messages that the media is spreading through those stars, like how to live, who to vote for, what is right or wrong is what happens.

When it comes down to the bottom line, one star could change the world if they wanted to. Yet before this information age where anyone can upload a video on a social media site, through their smart phone. There is a new generation of stars that have come into the world. I guess that the way I live does not fit in and it is nice to be living my life my way.

Stars, well, we are all stars in our own life, no matter who you are, we are all different. A star to me is a guiding light that has been placed into our lives. Everyone of us will shine for someone in one way or the other. Within time we may just relearn how to be the true selves instead of following others. We are all stars, never forget that.
