The Author's Corner: Not Enough

Over our lives the one thing that we do not have enough of is time. However, it is up to us in the way we spend it. Breaking it down to sections we have eight hours a day for sleep, work and personal time for the five days a week that we work. Then is our two days off which is set up by ourselves for what we want to do.
It does not matter at times where we work because our position we hold can be filled easily by our employer. Thus, unless you work for yourself, realize that your time with your friends and family is more important than any job that you have because you can not be replaced. this is something that a lot of people need to realize because no matter their career you have means nothing if you are alone.
Within our days that we are in this physical world, it does not matter what we do for a living. What matters is how we spend our time. If you are single by choice, the value you put on your time is up to you. Something that I have chosen in my life and in doing so I reached the levels I wanted to as a chef and now retired because of medical reasons I spend my time writing. However, I still manage my time in ways that works for me.
When I was in my early adult years I focused on my education and career until I was twenty-four after I finished taking business courses. After six years of working full time and going to school at the same time, life caught up to me and I took some needed time off. After I stopped is when my lack of understanding that I had very few friends and I was burnt out. I had focused all my time on becoming the best chef in the world. My illness would start to take hold of me in the summer of 2004 and in January of 2005 I would be hospitalized and diagnosed with schizophrenia.
In the years that we have in this life, we can never get back the time that has passed. After moving back to the family home, I had all of a few friends who I really knew nothing about. It would be one of them who lived in Edmonton that would take me under his wing for a second time and show me what friendship looks like. He said that he understood why I was the way I am after I told him about my diagnosis. It has been years since that time and now with his help I have learned to be a person and a friend.
Now, take a look at yourself and see where your time has been spent. Has it been with a career choice or with you family and friends? Those of us who have spent time looking into our lives realize one thing and that is we will never get that time back, thus some of us regret that we spent all our time in our career and missed out on the achievements of our friends and family.
Stay safe.
